What is Bluenose II made of?
Douglas Fir for the masts, booms, gaffs, and deck
Mahogany for the deck hatches, skylights and structures
The hull is of red oak, spruce and pine, with galvanized iron fastenings.
The sails are Dacron.
She boasts twin Caterpillar diesel engines of 250 hp each, which enable her to cruise under motor at 8 knots.
She sails at up to 16 knots, but doesn't race.
