Bluenose II on TV
Lunenburg - On September 29 and 30, 2004, a film crew from CTV’s Canada AM program sailed in Bluenose II and shot some footage for use in the live broadcast of that program from Lunenburg on October 18th.
The townsfolk of Lunenburg turned out in large numbers on the town’s waterfront to participate in the live broadcast of CTV’s Canada AM program on Monday, 18 October 2004. The show hosts, Bev Thomson, Seamus O’Regan and Jeff Hutcheson were in attendance and enjoyed the town’s warm hospitality, which was led by Mayor Laurence Mawhinney.
Bev Thomson and her dorymate, Garnet Heisler, undefeated international dory racing champion of Lunenburg, defeated Seamus O’Regan and Jeff Hutcheson in a race which delighted the throng of onlookers.
Bluenose II acted as host vessel for this event, and the program featured an interview with her skipper, Capt. Philip Watson.
