Bluenose role recognized
Lunenburg - The Lunenburg Board of Trade held its annual meeting on 24 November 2004 at the Lunenburg Arms Hotel. Board co-chairs Eleanor Wright and Sherman Lake made comments of appreciation for the vessels Bluenose II and Picton Castle and their crews, and stressed the important role they play in the tourism and commerce of Lunenburg.
The evening also included the presentation of the Board of Trade’s annual award winner’s for 2004. Maurice Guitton, president of Composites Atlantic Limited, was named business person of the year. Hon. Wilfred Moore, volunteer chairman of the Bluenose II Preservation Trust, was named volunteer of the year, and his award plaque reads “In recognition of his tireless efforts to promote and preserve a national icon and Lunenburg treasure, the schooner Bluenose II.”
